Four Types of Cloud Deployment Models
Let’s introduce the four cloud deployment models. The final deployment model you choose will rely on your current situation/conditions/company policies, business side/cost/risk endorsement, and even external regulations.
Public Cloud
The cloud platform is provided to the general public, companies, and organizations. Everyone can use it without any specific target as long as the cloud industry verifies it.
What are the benefits of using a public cloud?
1. Easy to use and inexpensive at the beginning, no need to handle everything by yourself
2. No waste – All usage costs are generated according to demand.
3. Resources are highly scalable
4. Fast and effective resource provision
Example: AWS / Azure / Google Cloud
Private Cloud
A private cloud is provided for use by a single organization/company. Your company creates the private cloud—a cloud computing model where a single-user organization owns the infrastructure. Private clouds can be hosted in an organization’s own data center, hosted in a third-party colocation facility, or hosted through a private cloud provider offering private cloud hosting services, and may (or may not) show both public and shared traditional multi-tenant cloud infrastructures.
What are the advantages of utilizing a private cloud?
1. Absolute control – the company’s organization controls the entire platform.
2. No sharing of equipment with others means that there are some cloud requirements that the public cloud providers cannot accommodate. Your private cloud can do it.
3. the problem with landing data, some industry data is highly regulated. It may not be attainable to access the public cloud.
Community Cloud
It is used exclusively by a community, which different organizations may share and gather for standard requirements (e.g., application, security, policy, or regulatory compliance). Community clouds are primarily used in a single industry and managed by multiple organizations or third parties. The electronic medical record cloud is a social cloud application that allows different hospitals to view and add medical records through the cloud and ensures that the process is consistent with the information security specifications of each hospital.
What are the benefits of using a community cloud?
There is absolute control of a private cloud combined with the high flexibility of a public cloud.
Hybrid Cloud
The hybrid cloud architecture can be composed of multiple public, private and social clouds, where different cloud systems remain independent but are combined into a hybrid cloud by standardized or private technologies. Enterprises can store critical and non-critical information in private and public clouds, respectively, saving costs and ensuring data security simultaneously. The emergence of hybrid clouds is mainly to address the integration needs of public and private clouds and can be applied to online resource integration, such as education cloud (an online learning platform that integrates resources from different units).
Combining the features of the previous three clouds will maximize the benefits. Enterprises can assign their needs to different cloud platforms according to various tasks. For example, data that cannot be placed in the public cloud will be placed in the private cloud, while other non-data-related aspects can be placed in the public cloud.
